Plant tours
If you are touring our Southerly Wastewater Treatment Plant during Clean Water Fest, here are the rules to follow:
- Registration required. Tours are every 15 minutes and each tour has 40 available slots. When you arrive at the event, go to the Plant Tours tent to claim your time slot while they last. Tours fill quickly.
- Proper footwear is required: Closed-toe hard-soled shoes. No sandals or flip flops will be permitted. Boots and sneakers are OK. Crocs are OK if there are no holes in the toe and the strap is around the ankle. Our staff reserves the right to remove guests from tours for their safety.
- Wear your tour timeslot badge provided at the Plant Tour registration tent.
- Please be at the tour bus stop at least 5 minutes before departure time.
- Keep your hard hat and safety glasses on.
- You can keep your hard hat. Consider it a sewer souvenir.
- Do not hang or reach over guard rails.
- This is a working treatment plant. Please be aware of your surroundings and listen to your tour guide.
Bike tours
Our Clean Water Fest bike tours have limited space and spots fill quickly. Here's what you need to know:
- Registration required. Sign up online today!
- Two tour times available, capacity 20 riders each. 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.
- Mountain bikes or hybrid models preferred due to loose gravel or compacted dirt in some areas
- If driving your car to the event, please allow additional time for parking.
- The tour will depart from its starting location at the FLAG POLE in front of the building promptly at 11:00.
- Helmets required
- Hard-sole closed-toe shoes required
- Ages 13 and older only. This route is for experienced riders.
- Tour will be conducted at the discretion of our Southerly management (rain or unsafe conditions may require a course change or cancellation)
- Rider must be capable of biking approximately 5 miles with some partial hills.
- Rider must be comfortable not having bike racks available at every stop along the route (For example, if you don’t have a kickstand, you may have to lay your bike down for select stops)
- Tour will begin and end at the flag pole at 4747 East 49th Street in Cuyahoga Heights.

No pets, no smoking
No smoking is allowed on NEORSD grounds. No pets, but service dogs are welcome.
